BCAM- Privacy Policy

BCAM – Background Video Recorder

Effective Date: May 20, 2025
Developer: 2tDev

BCAM is a privacy-focused background video recording app (Android) that lets you capture video (even with the screen off). Key features include background/scheduled recording, “Third Eye” intruder detection (with failed-unlock alerts), PIN-protected App Lock, and optional icon camouflage for privacy. 2tDev is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how BCAM collects, uses, and safeguards data in compliance with Google Play and global privacy standards. By using BCAM, you agree to the terms described here.

1. Information We Collect

BCAM is designed to minimize data collection. We do not collect personal information about you except as described below:

  • Contact Information: We only collect your email address if you choose to contact our support. This email is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not used for marketing or shared with others.

  • Crash and Usage Data: We use Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics to collect technical, non-personal data (e.g., device model, OS version, app version, crash logs, timestamps) to improve the app. None of this data identifies you personally.

  • Advertising Data: BCAM shows ads via Google AdMob and (optionally) Facebook Audience Network. These networks may automatically collect device data (such as your IP address and advertising ID) to personalize ads developers.google.com. We do not control or see this data, and we never link it to any personal identity.

  • Recorded Media: All videos and photos you record with BCAM are stored locally on your device. BCAM does not upload or transmit your recordings or personal files to any server; they remain under your control.

No Personal Data Sharing: We never sell or share your personal information. Any data we handle (such as crash logs) is used only internally to improve BCAM.

2. Permissions and App Features

BCAM requests only the permissions necessary to provide its features. Here is how each permission is used:

  • Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): To record video (foreground or background).

  • Microphone (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO): Optional; only used if you enable audio recording with your video.

  • Storage (android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): To save and manage your video files on the device.

  • All Files Access (android.permission.MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Required on Android 11+ to fully manage and organize video files, including those on an SD card.

  • Notifications: To display a persistent “Recording in progress” notification while BCAM runs in the background.

  • Foreground Service – Camera & Microphone (android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_CAMERA, …_MICROPHONE): Allows BCAM to continue recording even when the app is in the background or the screen is off, by running a foreground service as required by Android.

  • Device Admin (android.permission.BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN): Used only for the Third Eye intruder-detection feature. With this permission, BCAM can detect multiple failed unlock attempts, take a photo of the intruder, and sound an alarm. This permission is strictly for security features; BCAM cannot lock, erase, or control your device in any other way.
Uninstall Note: If you enabled Device Admin for BCAM, you must disable it before uninstalling. Go to your device Settings → Security → Device administrators, find BCAM, deactivate it, and then uninstall the app normally.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data collected only to operate and improve BCAM:

  • App Improvement: We analyze crash reports and app usage to fix bugs and optimize performance. For example, crash reports include device OS and model, which help us diagnose issues.

  • Preferences: We retain your app settings (such as language or scheduled recordings) so the app works consistently for you.

  • No Marketing: We do not use your data for advertising or marketing. We do not build a marketing profile of you or share your data with advertisers.

  • No Upload of Recordings: Your recorded videos and photos are never uploaded. They remain on your device unless you choose to share them yourself.

4. Third-Party Services and SDKs

BCAM uses the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:

  • Google AdMob: Provides in-app ads. AdMob’s SDK may collect anonymous device information (IP address, Advertising ID, etc.) to serve personalized ads.

  • Firebase Crashlytics & Analytics: Google services for crash reporting and analytics. They collect technical data (crash details, OS version, device model, etc.) to help us improve stability.

  • Facebook Audience Network: An optional ad network. If enabled, it may collect device identifiers and usage data for advertising.

We do not share your personal information with these services beyond what they collect automatically. Please review their privacy policies for details. We only use them to provide ads and improve the app.

5. Data Security

BCAM is designed so that your data remains on your device. Your video recordings and personal files are saved locally; we do not transmit them to any server. Any crash logs or analytics we send to Firebase are transmitted securely over encrypted connections. We follow standard security practices to protect your data within the app, but no system is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your device safe (for example, using a PIN or password) to protect your private recordings.

6. Uninstalling BCAM

If you enabled the Device Administrator permission for BCAM (for intruder detection), you must disable it before uninstalling. To do this, go to Settings → Security → Device administrators (or similar), locate BCAM, and deactivate it. Then you can uninstall BCAM like any other app. If you did not enable Device Admin, simply uninstall BCAM normally from your app settings.

7. Your Responsibilities

  • Legal Use: You agree to use BCAM in accordance with all applicable laws. Respect others’ privacy and consent; do not record people or content without permission.

  • Content Ownership: You own the videos and photos you record. BCAM (2tDev) does not claim ownership of your content.

  • Privacy Respect: Do not attempt to bypass security (such as guessing PINs) with this app. Unauthorized or illegal recording may violate privacy laws.

  • Liability: 2tDev (the developer) is not liable for misuse of BCAM. We provide the app “as is” and cannot control how it is used. We are not responsible for any loss, damage, or legal issues arising from use of this app.

8. Children’s Privacy

BCAM is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally (for example, when app features change or new legal requirements apply). If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or our Play Store listing. Your continued use of BCAM after any changes means you accept the revised policy. Please review this page periodically.
